Search pairs Pokémon like Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Paras, Venonat, and Venomoth with your Dowsing Machine. Follow a Search specialist and they'll react to glowing hotspots on the ground — dig there and you'll uncover buried loot.
Expect to find Lost Relics (the input to Appraise/Collect), CDs for DJ Rotom, Fossils for revival, and Mysterious Slates tied to the Mew questline.
Search is effectively the front end of the entire "rare collectible" loop; without it, much of the best loot stays literally buried.
