About the Rarify specialty
Rarify is Porygon2's specialty and one of the rarest (and most expensive) in the game. Hand over a Star Piece — each of which costs 99 Stardust — and Porygon2 converts it into Rare Pokémetal.
Rare Pokémetal feeds the 3D Printer, letting you duplicate otherwise unique items, and it's also a required ingredient in specific recipes tied to befriending Legendary Pokémon such as Ho-Oh and Lugia.
Because the input is so costly, Rarify is a specialty you save for critical milestones rather than everyday crafting.
